Everybody who has installed ICQ knows this problem. The Googlesearch from the Firefox addressbar does not work anymore properly. Everytime you type in your search query the icq powered search is called. To fix this problem and get back to the good old google search you only have to change one setting in your firefox browser.
- Type about:config in your addressbar
- Confirm that you will be carefully
- Search for keyword.URL
- Change the value by double clicking to http://www.Google.com/search?q=
- Close the page
If this does not help navigate to your Firefox Plugin folder. Usually this is ~/.mozilla/firefox for Linux and C:/Programms/Mozilla Firefox. Search for everything called ICQ and remove it if you do not want any ICQ stuff in your browser.
This works for other search engines as well. The only thing you have to adjust the query string.
